A Special Thanks To Our Corporate Sponsors

Without the support of local businesses and corporations, much of what we do would not be possible.

Spring Break Youth Golf Clinic

We had a great turnout for our Youth Golf Clinic.  Over the course of the two day event, sixty-two potential PGA, LPGA stars, ages 4-15 came out to test their mettle with the irons, woods, and greens.  A wide variety of style and form were on display as the participants, with help from more than a dozen volunteers and parents, explored the basics of the game.  It’s a fair assessment to say that what, some may have lacked in skill, they made up for with enthusiasm and joy.

First Sunday In March

Over 200 people braved the cold and wind to participate in the Golf Park's inaugural, First Sunday Event.  There was food by BluJay, drinks from The Bar Car, music by Luckypenny Traditional Irish Music, and jazz from Ben's Amigos.  It was a great, if frigid, opportunity to play some croquet, get  a free golf lesson on the driving range, toss some corn hole, play a few holes of disc golf or take the doggo for a walk before warming by the fire pit.  Join us again on April 7th for more fun, and hopefully some sun.

New Year's Day Open House

We had well over 150 people stop by on New Year's Day.  Traditional first of the year golf rounds were played and nearly 50 disc golfers from around the peninsula came out to celebrate the opening and give a demonstration of the sport.

Design and placement of baskets on the disc course are currently under development.  We're anticipating an April opening and event.  Check back for further details

Disc Golf Coming Soon

On Friday December 15, 2023 the City of Port Townsend and Friends of the Port Townsend Golf Park, signed  a 22 year lease for the Port Townsend Golf Park.  The first two years of the lease, which will take effect on January 1, 2024, will require the non-profit Friends organization to begin restoration of the property, develop a business plan, and meet metrics for public access, outreach and involvement of additional community and recreational groups, as well as increasing access for the general public. When those metrics are met, the lease will be automatically extended for an additional 20 years.

Current plans include the addition of Disc and Foot Golf, walking trails, increasing native plantings and expansion of the Camas prairie, as well as periodic use of the driving range as an amphitheater for public performances and events. The course will also be closed to golf activities at specific times so that the public can simply wander and enjoy the open space and its environs.

Over the following 5 years, along with continuing restoration, the Friends will be adding Mini-Golf and, in partnership with the City, develop a playground to increase family access.

The historic PT golf course, oldest course in a single location in Washington, has suffered from years of deferred maintenance. Initial support for the project has been strong and deeply gratifying but much more needs to be done to bring the Park to fruition.  The non-profit Friends of the Port Townsend Golf Park continues to seek donations and volunteers for this community project.  If you’re interested in helping, please click the link below.
